Moving

News from the Skinnys

6.05.2013

1. We moved. Not really a move at all since it was a town over. But, still. We moved. And all the furniture fits in the new apartment... which makes Deidre so happy because she was almost in tears every night thinking about buying a new couch. Pictures of the new home coming soon!
2. Adam came up with a brilliant way to get ice cream out of a those cardboard boxes. Just cut it. Ice cream cubes are way better than scoops.
3. Deidre died her hair blond. Adam changed which side he part his hair per Deidre's request.
4. The blog hit 900 followers. Thank you so much to everyone! It was such a humbling number to see on the sidebar. Looking forward to 900 more followers. Or 9000... that would be sweet.
5. Deidre is now in charge of all social media, alongside her event manager duties, for the Provo Marriott. Cool gig.
6. We have cable for the first time in our married lives. But we don't have internet yet and we can't find our cell phone chargers or any of Adam's socks.
7. Adam officially became a Utah resident for tax purposes... that sucks. (Sorry to any people that are Utah residents, we just are not.. and should never have to be... unless we are trying to save money for tax purposes. I'm being all sorts of Utah-offensive, huh?)
8. Adam was invited down to a private workout with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He had a really good outing. Now we must wait until the draft in a few days.
9. Deidre started Insanity. She is always sore now. Also. Shakeology is delicious and she really misses eating chocolate covered gummy bears.
10. This weekend Adam and Deidre are running the Dirty Dash. And that will be sweet. Adam will probably run it and Deidre will probably walk it... because, as previously mentioned, she is sore.
11.Draper UT has a weird U-turn intersection... not that that has anything to do with us. We just thought it was interesting and weird.
12.There will be a new series introduced soon. *Hint: Who likes TV? What are your favorite shows*... that wasn't a hint at all. Those were real questions that I would like answered.
13. Deidre has made a promise to de-junk her closet... aka. There will be lots of D.I. bags in the near future. Adam is teaching her the way of organization.14. And last, but not least, watch for a giveaway coming up.

You can follow along with our lives on (@lovetheskinnys for Deidre and @skinnymill for Adam) Twitter and Instagram! What is going on in your lives? What news do you have to share? Oh... and for real - answer that question up above about TV.

All The Things She Said

6.03.2013

All the things she said, all the things she said, running through my head... please tell me you know that song. If not. You fail. If you do, congratulations - you will move on to the next level test of coolness.
There are so many things running through my head right now. Like a big blurrrrr and flash of light. And so I am writing them down to help me out. Readdddddyyyy. ANNNNND GO!

  • The draft is this weekend. What the heck? How the heck did I marry an athlete? And how did he trick me into liking baseball so much? That is beside the point... because the draft is this week. And not only did I marry an athlete I married a man that will potentially make that his profession. I sort of freak out when I think about it and then Adam thinks I am crazy... but he thinks I am crazy in general so that doesn't matter too much.
  • Talking about being crazy. Have you ever moved? I would assume you have because most people have at least once. Packing and unpacking is driving me crazy. I never realized what a pack rat I was until Adam told me we had to de-junk before we packed... because I didn't do that last time. So I brought a bunch of crapola with me from my single living quarters into our marriage. And this time I vow to have an organized home from the day we unpack.
  • Because have you ever organized a home? Everyone on pinterest makes it look so easy... heck... my mom makes it look so easy. She always buys all these sorters and dividers at the dollar store. I wish I had inherited my mother's organizational genes... but nope, I got my dad's "lets make a pile" genes...
  • My parents are coming down this weekend. For the first time in many many years they don't have to spend their anniversary at one of my dance recitals or at Miss Idaho - last year they had Adam babysit my grandma so they could sneak out for an anniversary dinner - and this year they get to do whatever they want. And what are they doing? They are coming to hang out with my family so we can all go to a soccer game and run the Dirty Dash.
  • I ran the Dirty Dash last year and it was so much fun I convinced people to run it with me again this year since my friends from last year are out and about living life in Canada and California. The only difference from last year to this year is I am even more out of shape. Luckily, my Dad's hip has been hurting, so I have a walking partner when needed and I don't have to slow anyone down.
  • Annnd... now it is time I slow down. I want to tell you a few more things though. Mostly that you need to go read my friend Sam's brand new blog because she is what I like to call a high-ten-larious. And also that I died my hair blond and I am starting Insanity... I think that it is important you know those two things about me as well. And that wraps up today's thought process. Peace!

Tears. And Tears. And Tears.

1.05.2013

There was that one time I cried during a work training... not once. But twice. Why am I so emotional? I usually don't cry this much. At first I thought maybe it was "hormones", but then I realized that was two weeks ago. Hormones? Nope. Then I got to thinking. It is probably the fact that I only slept for 4 hours the night before.

First we watched this video. Which I am pretty sure everyone in the world has seen. Okay. Maybe not the world. But everyone that reads blogs maybe? Well. It gets me. Every single time. Tears and tears. So powerful. If you haven't seen it. Watch it now.

Isn't it a great reminder to look past the looks? There is so much more to a person than their outward appearance. And Susan Boyle and her voice is a great reminder of that. Alright. This next one... let me just say, I am glad the room was dark. Tears and tears.

Please tell me you cried too so I don't feel like a crazy!? Well. Even if you didn't. These videos were too good not to share. Loved them both. Inspirational and touching. What inspirational videos do you love?

Love,
Deidre

Dear New Place,

8.12.2012

Adam and I started moving into our married housing this week! On Sunday we towed a U-HAUL (and even if your Dad says you can go 75... you can't. stick at 65 to avoid all sorts of fishtailing) with the furniture my parents gave us down to Utah.

Welcome to our new HOME!
