The Glucose Test

2.13.2013

Last week I posted this on Instagram (@lovetheskinnys)...

What is the first thing that comes to your mind? Yeah. YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE! This is what my phone looked like for the next... 3-4 hours. I am giving you a small compilation...

Apparently when you are a young newlywed anytime you get sick, go to the doctor, get bloodwork, or take a glucose test everyone will think you are pregnant. Who else knew that you take a glucose test after your first trimester?! Is that common knowledge? I obviously did not know that. If I did I wouldn't have posted a picture of my orange drink on Instagram. But then I got to thinking... I am getting my hormones checked... but what if my hormones aren't the problem. WHAT IF I AM PREGNANT?! I text Adam as soon as I thought it.

Honestly. Sheer panic. I love kids. I love babies. But... I cant barely take care of myself! I should probably learn how to keep my house clean for longer than a day and keep the laundry tower down to a small pile before I have children. You ladies that have babies when you are young... hats off to you! I am impressed. Seriously impressed. So now I am thinking... should I take a pregnancy test? Should I call my mom and ask her? WHAT SHOULD I DO!? After a few texts back and forth and an hour or so to calm the heck down I decided I was over-reacting. Maybe. No. I was. I was letting everyone talk me into being pregnant. And I am not.

Moral of the story? If you are a newlywed (or even an oldly wed) and don't have any kids. Never tell anyone when you are sick or going to the doctor. They will just assume you are preggers... and then you will have a panic attack and think you are too. I don't know, maybe you won't have a panic attack... because maybe you already know how to take care of yourself. Either way. Don't tell anyone.

Love,
Deidre

oh ya, if you ever mention you don't feel well people always jump to pregnant, annoying.

pretty much any time i say, "guess what?" or, "i have great news!" people assume i'm about to announce a pregnancy. THERE ARE OTHER GOOD THINGS IN THE WORLD! i thought it would stop after actually having a baby, but even a few months after joony was born, people were back at it with the pregnancy jokes/guesses. siiiigh. a mormon life for me.

Oh my goodness, I kid you not since the day I went away to college when ever I tell my mom that I do not feel good she thinks that I am pregnant! It's been almost 20 years and I'm still saying, No Mom, I'm not pregnant. =)
