Summer to Fall

9.02.2013

The beginning of fall welcomes to GREAT things. Fall *ehem... fall clothes!* and Labor Day *cough... a day off of work and AWESOME sales*, and today's post is all about bringing those two things together!

Summer is ending quickly and fall is starting to show it's true colors. Which means it is time to trade that summer sun wardrobe in for some fall clothes. But who has the money these days to trade in their wardrobe? It is all about making what you have work. And when you need to add some layering items, getting an awesome deal. With Labor Day coming up there are sure to be some awesome sales. But rather than run around town trying to snag them all, why not stay at home? And use Coupons.com! They have a webpage built out for each store, and even better, they have a Labor Day coupons page all set up for you to use! Their website works wonders. I used it to find the dress in my summer to fall outfit below, and it save me 30% off the clearance price. That is what I call a huge win.

So you are looking for an easy way to change your outfit from summer to fall? It is all about layering. My five staple items for fall are scarfs, boots, patterned tights, cardigans, and tall socks. See how I turned a fun summer dress into a fall dream by using three of these staple items.

The moment I saw this green dress on Lands' End, I was in love. I had to have it. It is so versatile. Light enough for summer and thin enough for layering. Casual enough for a date night, sophisticated enough for church, and professional enough for work. Pair the previous listed items with the awesome code I found over at Coupons.com, ladies and gentleman, we have a winner! So how do I make a dress like this go from summer to fall? Check it out below.

SUMMER
For summer it was simple. The green dress had all the details I needed. And the color is so rich and deep... it didn't need any extras to make it a stand out sun dress. The sash at the waistline makes it a perfect dress for anyone. I paired it with a pair of nude heels, done and done. I was out the door.

FALL
Fall was a matter of adding a few of my previously listed staple items. Like I mentioned, the color is so rich already it didn't need a ton of extras. So everything I paired it with was a neutral. That's right, I consider leopard print a neutral. You can turn any outfit from summer to fall with a nice scarf and a pair of boots. The cardigan isn't always needed but I think it really put the finishing touch on this outfit.
Dress: Lands' End c/o \\ Boots: TJ Maxx \\ Scarf: Soel \\ Cardigan: Downeast

So there you have it. Summer to fall in three quick swoops!
All you need is one key piece!

For some reason, until this year, I never caught onto the whole, summer clothes can turn to fall ones with a cardigan, etc. :P I struggle! This outfit looks awesome on you either way! :)

Mostly I just need to add boots and leggings and a denim jacket to stay warm enough in the fall!! I'm a summer lover...but we must all accept the coming of fall. (Everyone seems more excited about it than I am) :P
