Where do I start? To make the back story quick - I had just gotten out of a relationship and Adam had just gotten out of the mission field. We both ended up living at UAC due to some crazy circumstances and we were in the same ward. There was a dating class- yes, a dating class- that we both ended up going to. In class it went Adam, my roommate Alex, and then me. We talked to her during class. And we talked to him again after church with his roommate Brock. On the drive home, Alex and I discussed how we wouldn't mind ending up in their FHE group. Fingers crossed.
Adam just enjoying the football game. I felt like an idiot... And he said he just thought I was pretty. |
But that wasn't going to stop me.
That Friday I saw Adam at the BYU Football game. I was sitting one section over from him and all of his teammates. And I thought to myself, "Alright Deidre... time to be bold! Go talk to that cute guy from Sunday School." There were about 15 minutes until game time, I could strike up a convo before kickoff, right? And my friends were getting drinks quick. After a few minutes of debating... I walked over to Adam and started talking. And the conversation went a little something like this...
Deidre: Hey! How are you?
Adam: Hey, I am good how are you? (he looked confused)
Deidre: I don't know if you remember me (he obviously didn't) but I sat next to you on church on Sunday...
Adam: I am really sorry, but I don't remember.
Deidre: Well, you actually sat next to my roommate and I was the next seat over...
Adam: Sorry... I really don't remember...
Deidre: That's okay, there is a lot of new people. I just thought I would come say hi! Enjoy the football game!
Adam: Well thanks! You have fun too!
And I walked away. Feeling like a massive idiot.
To be continued...
Hahahahaha, that cracks me up! Poor Deidre, Adam made such a huge impression on her and he completely spaced the fact that she even existed! ;) I always hoped that's how my husband would remember me, just not at all, unfortunately, when he saw me in institute where we "met", he first thought was, "I think her name is Amber and I think she used to stalk me." Great right? I leave a creep impression!!! :) Kudos to you for putting yourself out there though, obviously THAT made an impression! I can't wait to hear the rest of the story :)
Justin and I had a similar encounter where he remembers our first interaction but I really don't. =)
Our Fairy Tale
You go girl for walking up to him!! Can't wait to hear the rest of this story :)
This post makes me so glad I am done with single wards. haha. I remember doing that exact same thing at least once. It's mortifying! Can't wait to keep reading!
Ooooooh! That was awkward! And your hubby didn't even try! That was hilarious!
