80s Baby

9.24.2013

I've been holding off on this playlist for quite sometime. I felt like I needed to save it for the right moment. But after this weekend I couldn't hold off any longer. All signs pointed towards 80s. Sign #1. Adam and I were talking about the things we could do when he gets home - and 80s dancing was one of the first options. Sign #2. Manic Monday came on the radio when I was driving to work. On Monday. Nailed it. Sign #3. Pretty in Pink was on TV Friday night when I had nothing else to do. Sign #4. I was reminded of this video. Okay. Maybe that wasn't a sign. But either way. Here you have it. My favorite decade with my favorite music. Give me some shoulder pads and some spandex. It is 80s time people!

Walkout Songs

9.17.2013

It has been a lot of baseball these last weeks. In fact... ever since I met Adam it has been a lot of baseball. Two seasons at BYU, eight trips to out of town games, one professional season, and too many games online watching a tracker or a blurry video to count. Baseball is what our family does. And will always do. But ya know what? I am okay with that. Because it is something I have grown to love through my relationship with Adam. One thing that is very special to baseball is walkout songs. Each player gets to pick their very own song for when they walkout. For pitchers it is a song for them to warm up to when they start. A good solid minute of pumping up to their favorite jam. For position plays it is about 10 seconds every time they walk up to bat. And it is only for the home team. Home field advantage is everything, yeah? So here are some of my favorite walkout songs from the last couple years.

Side A
Getting Jiggy With It - Will Smith
Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
Can't Hold Us - Macklemore ft Ryan Lewis
Closing Time - Semi Sonic
Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
Lovumba - Daddy Yankee
Paradise - Coldplay
Good Feeling - Flo Rida

I Work Out

9.10.2013

My brother and I have started to set goals for fitness and then we check in every night. We both have had back issues for along time, so we think that working on fitness and posture will help us out. Last week you might have seen me post that I burned 1000 calories during my workout. Well, this week I will be burning 1000 for 6 days straight. That is my goal! This week starts the official start of my #burn1000challenge! And I have to do it, because Sean will never let me live it down if I don't. So this week's playlist is dedicated to workout songs. What is your favorite tune to get your fitness on with? What do you like to play in your earbuds when you are running? Share, share! Country Living

8.20.2013

This week's playlist is inspired by my weekend trip. A weekend in Montana will remind you of your roots... just kidding. I never listened to much country until I met Adam. Wedding Playlist

8.15.2013

I know this playlist is late - but I didn't feel like I could leave you guys hanging right in the middle of our love story so I pushed it back a few days. Sticking with the wedding theme, today I am sharing part of the playlist from Adam's and my reception. This playlist is extra special because not only is it something that we listened to at our receptions but it is something we both have on our phones now to listen to. The other night we were talking about it and we both still listen to it, a year later, when we can't sleep or when we miss each other while we are apart. Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

7.16.2013

I almost had today's post be called "The Day The Music Died"... because I have been too scrambly and too scattered to take time to put together a playlist. Miss Idaho week really drained me. Which is especially lame since I wasn't even competing. Just playing den mother. And then yesterday I experienced what I think was my very first migraine? Maybe? Gross. So yeah, I wasn't going to create a playlist for you. But then I realized... THAT was a bad idea. It was especially a bad idea because I have MAJOR reason for celebration and a roadtrip playlist this week. Because tomorrow, after thirty-five days of waiting, I get to see Adam! That Good Esteem

7.09.2013

You know those songs you listen to and you can't help but think, "Man, I am awesome and pretty and so funny!" Or you listen and think, "I rock and people would be lucky to know me!" The ones that just boost your confidence and your self esteem? If you don't know those songs... then you need to listen to more tunes. Or.. listen to this playlist. This week's playlist goes out to all my sister friends competing at Miss Idaho. I know how emotionally draining competition can be, and there are those moments you just need a pick me up. You are comparing yourself to other girls, you are questioning all you have prepared, and you are nervous as can be. So whether you are in that moment, in a moment of stress and lack of confidence, or you just had a bad day... THIS play list is for you. This mixed tape is all about getting that good esteem. Enjoy.

6.25.2013

Over here it is all about making due with what you got. Adam has been gone for a few weeks and I am more grateful than ever before for technology. It is the little things that make the days great. A phone call from Adam, a selfie through text message, a Google+ hangout at night, a raspberry lemonade, clean laundry, and a good song on the radio... 6.04.2013

Like I said yesterday... we've been moving. And while we move we listen to music. Our wedding dance playlist has been on repeat at our old home and our new home. One Day More Flash Mob

2.27.2013

Remember how my bestie got married? A little background on the happy couple. They met doing a play. They were in Oliver and played the male/female counterparts. As long as I can remember Sarah has been doing plays, her whole family has for that matter. And Uriah's family is incredibly musically talented as well. So it seemed fitting for Uriah's wedding surprise to be a musical theater flashmob. I really wish you were all there, it was so moving and powerful. And I cried. More than I should have. But here is the video.

As more filmings appear and they piece it all together.... I will probably share it again. It was honestly amazing. It was all made up of Uriah and Sarah's family members. The one that really kicked the tears into high gear was Sarah's father. Incredible. Remember? I cry a lot. What is inspiring to you? Do you cry when something just gives you chills?

Love,
Deidre

Dear Christmas,

12.25.2012

Enjoy your special day. Enjoy your loved ones. Enjoy the laughter and smiles. Enjoy the festivities. Enjoy the food, the jokes, the presents, the surprises, and the magic of this holiday. Enjoy it all.

And of course, have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Knowing,

12.23.2012

I love this song. It is one of my holiday favorites. Because there was so much to this man. The man that we celebrate this holiday season. Jesus Christ. I love thinking about him as a child, with his mother Mary. I know that my parents think so many wonderful things of me, and I know that Mary thought so many wonderful things of her son. I like to think about all the things Mary thought of her son and what she knew. Did she know from that moment that Jesus Christ would be more than a carpenter. He would be our Savior, a teacher, a leader, an example.

I am so grateful for Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the man he is, that he would volunteer his life to save mine. That he would go through the atonement to help save me in the last day. I am grateful for his time spent in the garden that he knows all the things I feel every day. The joy, the sorrow, the trails, and success. He knows me and He has faith in me. I know. I know who He is. I know what He has and will do for me. And I know that Jesus Christ, my brother, is the reason for this season. Let us celebrate Him. Love, Deidre

Dear Beach Boys,

12.22.2012

In honor of our arrival to California yesterday, today's Christmas tune is from the Beach Boys. And what says Christmas Beach Boys better than Little Saint Nick?

Nothing... that's what! Enjoy your weekend finishing up your shopping and gathering with family.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Holy Night,

12.16.2012

At this time more than ever I think it is important to remember the real reason for the season. Our Lord and Savior was born to teach and lead by example. "Fall to your knees, oh hear the angel voices. Oh night divine, oh night when Christ was born."

Remember the reason for the season.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Christmas Tunes,

12.15.2012

This weekend is being spent in Idaho with my family since we will be in California for the holiday season. Here is the weekend tune. A Christmas diddy mixed with a little Jimmy. What more could you ask for?

Mariah, Christmas children, The Roots, and Jimmy? Well done. A better team there is? No, there is not.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Weekend Plans,

12.01.2012

Happy weekend people! Adam and I have had fun so far by double dating and staying up way too late. Now he is off making some money and I am cleaning up the apartment. The whole time with this on replay! Here is your weekend tune.

We are still trying to figure out the rest of our weekend, what are you doing? Got any fun plans I could copy?
